The KYOVA Gospel Music
Association strives to serve musicians and vocalists in Southern Gospel &
Bluegrass Gospel Music in the areas of spiritual and personal accountability,
integrity and obedience to God's word in business and professional practice. The
Bible is the standard of faith and practice in all issues, including, for
example, conflict resolution which must be addressed according to Matthew
18. KYOVA-GMA, believes in partnership with the local church, encourages
ministry and restoration, where needed, and the need for intercession for one
another and the body of Christ.

The Tri-State Area of Kentucky, Ohio and West
Virginia has a rich tradition in Southern Gospel and Bluegrass Gospel Music.
Over the years, countless musicians and vocalists have crisscrossed the region
performing at festivals, in churches and on local radio and television. Some
have been "discovered" by national audiences and made a splash in bigger ponds.
But most music ministries continue to labor faithfully in the region without
much attention or acclaim. This quiet individualism, so much a part of the
Appalachian character, can lead to isolation both spiritually and
professionally. Musicians and singers often float from group to group, with
intermittent attempts at solo performance, finding little consistent spiritual
support and even less training in effective ministry and the manifold challenges
inherent in the work of God in music. It is into this environment that the
KYOVA Gospel Music Association (GMA) was born. For years, attempts have been
made to unify or organize local gospel and bluegrass gospel musicians, only to
fall short of the goal. KYOVA - GMA is instituting a ministry for
local music ministries through a local church toward the
accomplishing of two principal goals: 1) The spreading of the good news of Jesus
Christ to everyone, and 2) The dedication of ministries involved to professional
and personal excellence.
The KYOVA - GMA believes the scriptural
exhortation to excellence to be particularly applicable to musicians and music
ministries. If you are involved in Southern Gospel or a Bluegrass Gospel music
ministry and would like to join other groups, musicians and vocalists in an
organization dedicated to excellence in the name of Jesus, prayerfully consider
participation in KYOVA - GMA. Fellowship, accountability, support and
mentoring are available through a membership in KYOVA - GMA. Also,
establish relationships with others in ministry, both part and full-time.
